What is the Tennessee Jobs Coalition (TJC)?
The Tennessee Jobs Coalition is a group of businesses and business associations that provide and create jobs for Tennesseans. The TJC recognizes the role of the workplace and the individual employee in creating new jobs, personal wealth at all levels and economic prosperity for all Tennesseans. The TJC is dedicated to encouraging current and future investment, development and jobs growth in all business sectors in Tennessee. The TJC is focused on providing leadership to insure that the workplace is effective, efficient and productive.
How many members and employees are represented by the TJC?
TJC founding members represent more than 14,140 individual members employing nearly 820,000 Tennesseans.
What organizations comprise the TJC?
The following list of organizations is the founding group of members of the TJC. The CEO or Executive Director of each of these organizations has a seat on the Executive Committee. The TJC may, from time to time, be comprised of any number or combination of other businesses as situations or issues warrant.
The TJC is not a member organization. It is an organized forum for maintaining the integrity of the workplace across the state of Tennessee.
· Associated Builders and Contractors of Tennessee:
ABC is a national commercial construction-related trade association based on the merit shop philosophy. The Mid-Tennessee Chapter, located in Nashville, is made up of over 350 member companies -- general contractors, specialty contractors, supplier and associate members. ABC provides services such as apprenticeship and task related training, management and safety courses, networking and social opportunities, legislative and governmental affairs updates, related business service discounts, and much more.
· The National Federation of Independent Business:
The largest advocacy organization representing small and independent businesses in Washington, D.C., and all 50 state capitals. NFIB was ranked the most influential business organization (and 3rd overall), in "Washington's Power 25" survey conducted by Fortune Magazine. NFIB members are a diverse group consisting of high-tech manufacturers, retailers, farmers, professional service providers and many more.
· The Tennessee Business Roundtable:
A statewide organization of Chief Executive Officers of many of Tennessee's major corporations representing firms with more that 100,000 employees and a five billion annual payroll. The organization is bi-partisan and represents a diversified membership including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, finance as well as many other segments of business and industry. The mission of TBR is to unite senior level business leaders to focus and direct meaningful influence on state government resulting in a pro-business environment and sound public policy.
· Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry:
The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry is the state's largest statewide broad-based business and industry trade association, representing the interests of employers and their employees who make Tennessee work. It is the Tennessee state affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.
· The Tennessee Hospitality Association:
The TN Hospitality is non-profit trade association representing the Tennessee lodging and restaurant industry and its affiliated businesses. Tn Hospitality is now continuing the tradition of the 82-year old Tennessee Hotel & Lodging Association.
· The Tennessee Retail Association:
Represents businesses across the state including grocers, chain drug pharmacies, restaurants, direct marketers, financial services companies and general merchandise stores. The TRA educates the law and policymakers of Tennessee on the concerns and needs of the retail industry as well promotes and protects a strong business climate.
What is the TJC’s Political Agenda?
The TJC is designed to bring interested pro-business parties together to meet and assess issues that impact the individual workplace in Tennessee. The TJC will actively support any pro-workplace matters that do not intrude or encumber Tennessee’s workforce. We will not support any issues or matters that would negatively impact the integrity of the workplace.
